These longer shorts definitely live up to the positive reviews given, in my opinion. I am 5’6”, 137-140 and 60 years old.I got these for my 84 year old mother to wear as swim wear bottoms, but I tried them on first. We are both usually size small in pants, me size 6 and she size 8. I sized up and got in a medium and they fit me so well, I decided I’m going to buy another pair for myself.I got the dark gray, so not sure if all the colors fit the same yet. But, I found these pants to be almost like a soft, stretchy, windbreaker type material, and the dark gray isn’t see through. They don’t seem that they will be hot, even though they feel like polyester, because they are so light. The medium fit me close, but not as close as leggings, which might have been the case if I bought my regular size small. The waist band is a wider elastic, landing on my belly button, but it is not uncomfortable as I sized up, and it is lighter material. The length hit me right below the knee, and I tend to have a bit longer torso than longer legs. Can’t tell the quality yet, but I imagine if I was hiking and it got snagged on some thorns, or a rock, that would probably be the end of it, because it is so light. But, for being comfortable just around the yard it is fine, and for going out and about, it definitely looks presentable. No back pockets, but the side ones are roomy enough for a cell phone, but I might size up one size like I did, unless you like skin tight. There is a third zippered small side pocket further down on the right leg, but not sure I’d use that for anything as it is so low. But, might like it for small things, like money, or a license that you wouldn’t want falling out.
