What is the difference between board shorts and swim trunks?

The main difference is the liner and the fit.Swim trunksusually have a mesh liner and an elastic waistband, meant for casual swimming.Men's surf board shortsare designed for performance; they typically have no mesh liner (to prevent chafing/rash while sitting on the board), a fixed waistband with a drawstring for a secure fit in waves, and are made from durable, quick-drying stretch fabric.

Do I need to wear anything under my board shorts?

This is a common preference question. Many surfers go "commando" specifically to avoid chafing. However, if you prefer support or are surfing in abrasive conditions, we recommend wearing a pair of compression shorts or specificsurf undiesunderneath yourmens surf shorts. Avoid regular cotton underwear as it absorbs water and causes drag.

How do I choose the right surf shirt or rash guard?

Choose based on fit and function. A tight-fittingrash guardis best for surfing to reduce drag and prevent board rash on your chest. If you are just hanging out on the beach or want sun protection without the squeeze, a loose-fittingsurf teeorsurf shirtwith UPF protection is ideal. Why should I wear a surf hat?

Surfer's eye (pterygium) and sunburn are real risks for frequent surfers. A dedicatedsurf hat for menprovides crucial shade for your eyes and face. Unlike a regular baseball cap, our surf hats come with secure chin straps and stiff brims that won't flop down when wet, ensuring the hat stays on even during a duck dive or wipeout.

What thickness wetsuit do I need?

It depends on the water temperature. For warm water (65°F-75°F), a 2mm spring suit or just awetsuit topis sufficient. For moderate cold (58°F-65°F), a 3/2mm full suit is standard. If you are surfing in colder waters (below 58°F), look for a 4/3mmmens surf wetsuit. Our collection offers various thicknesses to keep you warm and flexible in any condition.

This is a weatherproof shell. It goes over a warmer layer if its cold or a lighter layer if you just need protection from rain. Love the length.
